“Arnia” is a terracotta beehive designed with the visual language of vases. The main concept behind this design is to prevent moisture buildup in hives a critical issue exacerbated by climate change that threatens the survival of bees. Terracotta’s natural capillarity allows it to expel excess moisture, effectively protecting the hive’s interior.
This project was conceived for artisanal production, targeting beekeepers who prioritise the well-being of their bees over mass honey production. To demonstrate my craftsmanship and ability to work with materials, the prototype was realised in wood, showcasing my hands-on skills and attention to detail.
